Kobi's story

A birthday present
that changed everything

For his 8th birthday, Kobi Martini received his first 3D printer. What began as something fun to experiment with quickly became much more. Kobi became fascinated by the idea that something he could imagine on a screen could be turned into a real object he could actually hold.

From toys and gaming accessories to characters, gadgets and completely random ideas that only make sense when you’re eight, the printer was rarely switched off.

And that’s where Martini Manufacturing began.

Kobi attends a local primary school in Middlesbrough. When he isn’t at school, he loves gaming, computers, technology and creating things. Instead of just playing games, he wanted to understand how things were designed, made and turned into products of his own.

His dad saw that enthusiasm and decided to help him turn it into something real.

A father & son project

Martini Manufacturing is very much Kobi’s venture, but like most eight-year-olds starting their first manufacturing company, he needed a little help with some of the boring bits. That’s where Dad came in.

Together, we started developing the brand, building this website, choosing products, learning more about 3D printing and working out how Kobi could turn something he genuinely enjoys into his own little business.

Dad looks after much of the technical, website and business side, while Kobi finds ideas, chooses products, tests prints and decides what Martini Manufacturing should create next.

It’s a proper father-and-son project, and something we hope Kobi can continue building as he gets older.

The Lamborghini fund

Every great entrepreneur needs a plan.

Kobi’s business plan is fairly straightforward:

We have explained that a Lamborghini may require slightly more than a few dinosaur sales. Kobi remains unconvinced.

For now, the goal is to help him earn some pocket money, learn about business, saving and customer service, and experience what it feels like to build something of his own.

But apparently, the Lamborghini remains “the long-term strategy.”
